The standard brand bearer and primary clone for The Clone Wars series gets an update in 2012 that transitions him into Phase II armor. The new Captain Rex looks absolutely magnificent, with great sculpting, awesome deco and weathering detail, and shares some parts with CW2 Phase II Clone Trooper. What he lacks in articulation (8 points), Rex certainly makes some up for in aesthetics. But will that make the cut for pose happy collectors?

Those funny guys at the Hasbro art department injected some Strangelove humor in the background insert of the Attack Recon Fighter with Anakin Skywalker. UPDATE: Thanks to a tip from Yakface, we have more on this noseart design!

Presenting some packaged photos of the new Movie Heroes/Clone Wars 2012 Class II Wave 2 vehicles featuring the all new Naboo Starfighter, a repainted Republic Tank, and a re-issued Anakin Skywalker Jedi Starfighter. On a side note, that Republic Tank package art featuring Yoda jumping around like a killer jumping bean is too awesome for words.

Entertainment Earth has canceled pre-orders for the Clone Wars Mandalorian Attack Shuttle. The online retailer (and Galactic Hunter sponsor) took additional pre-orders earlier this year after selling out of their initial allocation and it appears they were unable to obtain the additional stock.

It's hard to find, but pretty neat!  The 501st Legion Clone Trooper from the vintage line is mostly old parts, but new paint makes everything fun again.  Check it out!

We can blame Canada for this cool carded variant of VC20 Yoda. The Jedi Master is packaged in a Return of the Jedi cardback with the iconic photo that was featured in the original Kenner release instead of the more correct, and dare we say not as iconic, Revenge of the Sith card that was distributed here domestically.

Toy Palace of Germany is taking pre-orders for the U.S. Target exclusive Darth Maul Returns Battle Pack featuring Darth Maul, Savage Opress, and a Night Sister with larger images of the set and the Galactic Battle game cards.

Hasbro publishes their first Movie Heroes print ad for the season and it looks pretty awesome featuring MH20 Darth Vader breaking out of his plastic shell. 

Hasbro did right by that ROTJ Vader card. Presenting some really hi-res images for your close scrutiny and inspection of the upcoming Vintage Collection Wave 6 featuring the "Lost Line" alternate cardbacks and some carded shots of the Shock Trooper, Sandtrooper, and Darth Vader in their regular retro black and chrome Kenner cardbacks. It ain't perfect, but this just-released Vintage 2012 Grand Moff Tarkin is pretty good.  This is a figure with great engineering and parts reuse, and unfortunate color and plastic choices.  (He's shiny.)  The cloth skirt doesn't look so bad in person, and the sculpt is exceptional.  Want to know more?  Read on, or watch the video after the jump!  (It's short, but not too short.)
