Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,815: Cara Dune (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, May 18, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Cara Dune (The Retro Collection). This is a good one - she can hold her blasters, stand, sit, and generally look like an old Kenner figure with a far better paint job than we would be likely to see in the 1980s. Unlike some other late-era Kenner women figures, she also has a neck. (Look at Kea Moll.) She's also a little short - but still a good figure. Mostly I'm just happy there's no vinyl cape to get in the way of vehicle interaction. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,814: 3PO Protocol Droid (Blue, Droid Factory)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, May 17, 2021

Today in Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day: 3PO Protocol Droid (Blue, Droid Factory). This blue droid is sold in parts bins exclusively in theme parks, which may as well mean eBay. The blue head and torso include unique painted stripe patterns, the significance of which I actually do not know - but it's blue and it looks cool, and it reminds me of the blue concept C-3POs we once saw in Tomart's Action Figure Digest. In other words, this Disney figure is sort of like a Kenner prototype we assumed we'd never get. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,813: Han Solo (6-Inch Value Figure, Solo: A Star Wars Story Line Look)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, May 13, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Han Solo (6-Inch Value Figure, Solo: A Star Wars Story Line Look). This $5 figure was made in 2018, but I never saw them in stores until recently - for all I know they were sitting in a warehouse before being sold in the USA at Five Below stores. They were available internationally, and also seen in board room presentations if you were invited to the right meetings. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,812: The Mandalorian (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, May 11, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog, it's the kind of figure I've been waiting for - and it's been a very long time. The Mandalorian (The Retro Collection)! It's great. Because the 1980s never ended for some of us, Hasbro made The Mandalorian figures that look like Kenner releases. From 1981. I'm not quite sure why they went with a vinyl cape for a post-ROTJ release, but it's still neat with bright colors and two great blasters. If you see it, especially for ten bucks, and you're old? This is a must-buy figure. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,811: R8-Series Astromech Droid Orange with White Panels

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, May 10, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R8-Series Astromech Droid Orange with White Panels. A weird dome, a unique body, and some pretty spectacular colors make for a standout droid that matches your X-Wing pilots quite nicely. If you have the means, you should get one. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,810: The Mandalorian (6-Inch Value Figure, Black Logo Line Look)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, May 6, 2021

Probably at a store near you, just not in the toy aisles: The Mandalorian (6-Inch Value Figure, Black Logo Line Look). This $5 figure stands tall and may be hidden around your feet at a checklane at a Walmart near you. I suggest going at night when the lanes are mostly empty - each one has different stuff in it, so next to the candy bars and batteries might be a figure with four joints and surprisingly nice paint for the asking price. Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,809: R5-M4 (Droid Factory Line Look)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, May 4, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R5-M4 (Droid Factory Line Look). This one was available five years ago, and to this day is arguably the only thing that probably matters to figure fans as May 4 releases go. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,808: The Child (6-Inch Value Figure, Black Logo Line Look)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, May 3, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day column, which may well be eternal: The Child (6-Inch Value Figure, Black Logo Line Look). It's a 6-inch scale figure that sells for under $5 at Walmart, but it's also about 1/2-inch bigger than The Black Series The Child. And half the price. For your money, this is one of the better values out there for a figure of this particular character - and we'll look at his Mandalorian companion later this week, too. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,807: Battle Droid (2021, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, April 29, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Battle Droid (2021, The Vintage Collection). This one looks a lot like a figure from 10 years ago with more printed silver scuffing, but there's so much of it that it almost looks like a pearlescent sheen. It's still a good mold, minus the fact that it will need support above the waist if you plan for a long-term display. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,806: Cad Bane (The Black Series 6-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, April 27, 2021

Today in Figure of the Day, it's a good one: Cad Bane (The Black Series 6-Inch). This one was available by himself or in a set with Todo 360, end either one is really excellent if you can find them. Cad Bane's hat comes off, he has two blasters, and each and every joint seems to be perfectly hidden in his costume. This is one of the best figures from last year, so get one when you see one. Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,805: Zutton (The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, April 26, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Zutton (The Vintage Collection). This mold was previously sold as a Target exclusive in a 3-pack a few years ago, and now it's back! At first glance it's pretty much the same as that first release. At a longer glance, it's also pretty much the same as the first release with a bit more of a paint wipe and slightly glossier hair. If you have the first version, you probably don't need the new one - but it's worth a look anyway. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,804: CB-23 (Droid Factory Line Look / Droid Depot)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, April 22, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: CB-23 (Droid Factory Line Look / Droid Depot). He's the BB-8 replacement for the back half of Star Wars: Resistance, which you did not watch most likely. A theme park exclusive, this is available online at a mark-up but may well be abundant and cheaper as the theme parks open even more by the end of the month. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,803: Boba Fett (Deluxe ROTJ, The Black Series 6-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, April 20, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Boba Fett (Deluxe ROTJ, The Black Series 6-Inch). This one ships in a case by himself - that's good! But he's $30 - that's bad. But he comes with a bonus sawed-off blaster - that's good! But his capture claw gauntlet is just some weird clip-on bracelet - that's bad. Can we read on now?

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,802: Shoretrooper (The Black Series 6-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, April 19, 2021

It's old, but new, but pretty much the same as the old one: Shoretrooper (The Black Series 6-Inch). It's a rerelease! The 2021 Archive figure looks a lot like the 2016 Walmart-exclusive version, but the damage deco is a little different. If you have the first release, you probably don't need this one unless you're army-building and want some subtle variety in your troops. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,801: Vendor Droid (White, Droid Factory)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, April 15, 2021

Fresh from the Disney parks (a few years ago) is today's Figure of the Day: Vendor Droid (White, Droid Factory). This one has what looks like a price scanner on his head. The white version has a brown printed pattern on it to look a little worn, which is weird for a robot that works in stores. The model first showed up in The Clone Wars, and hasn't really made many appearances since. If you have one, you probably got it at a Disney theme park. Read on!
