Another day, another droid! Our pal Shannon helped me out so now we're going to look at more robots starting with the R7-Series Astromech Droid Gold. It's a new Disney droid - notable in that the "Hasbro" name has been scraped off the figure's legs now - and you can get it on your next trip to Anaheim. More are coming later this year, we hear, but how is this one? Read on!
If you aren't at C2E2, you can still get the Hunter Mushi from The GodBeast. He's up now for $16.00 plus shipping - about $6.25. Click here to order yours, or the Skeletor-themed one too.
Readers Colin (pictures and info), Shannon Cosman (pal/pics/info), and Michael Magdalena (lots of info) have written in to tell all of us about what we can expect from the new Droid Factory line. This is the next big batch of figures showing up at Disney theme parks as I write this. We're all still putting together a complete picture of everything (I have an image 9 new figures after the jump) so you know what to expect. We'll put together a matrix of all the new parts as soon as we have in-hand samples, but until then? Here are the Top 6 7 8 Things You Must Know about New Disney Astormech Droids.
Yes, it is a good day to be a droid fan - minus the headaches we're all about to get trying to track these down.
Last updated Saturday 10:18 AM.
If you aren't busy watching the David Hasslehoff music video for True Survivor, please take a moment to look at these new droids. As you know, we were told to expect new Droid Factory action figures at the Disney park building experience/shop/assembly line. Reader Colin sent in two images and tells us:
"Hey Adam just want to say I did find the droids at Disneyland this afternoon. Was told 11 but only found 9. Here are some photos."
Thank you, Colin! Check out the pictures after the break. Also, today's secret word is "sombrero."
Shannon came through with two more individually carded action figures. Holographic R2-D2 is exclusive to Star Wars Weekends in the Florida park, so I'll be relying on you guys to help me out.
For D23 is another Droid with a Sorcerer's cap, and in the interest of speedy coverage we present to you this blurry image so we have something to share immediately. (How do I get these?)
Another image Shannon Cosman snapped for us: Star Wars Rebel Trainer! Shannon says that the R2-D2 will project TIE Fighter images on the walls and you are to shoot them! Keeps score and has levels of difficulty.
This is just one of many items being revealed in Anaheim right now - more as we have it!
Surprise! Pal of mine Shannon Cosman snapped this photo of new figures using the build-a-droid parts that, we are told, are going up for grabs at Disney parks today. As to how many there are, and the other finer details, we don't know yet.
Four new hats were also shown.
If you like designer toys - and I know you do - you'll want to visit the Glyos News Dump blog for a post I wrote called " C2E2 The Godbeast C2E2 2015 Offerings." A limited run of figures nodding to things you know and love will be on sale from Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen at the Nerd City booth. He does great stuff, and I've picked up some of his other offerings over the years.
In the realm of "holy cow that's awesome," kids of the 1980s will lose their cool over Gentle Giant's exclusive Jumbo 12-Inch Celebration VII Droids C-3PO. (I want one!) This yellow figure is a remake of a repaint - one of very few repaints - from the entire original Kenner action figure line. It is gorgeous. I will have one. (Somehow.)
Funko revealed five exclusive and first-to-market Pop! Vinyl Star Wars Bobble Heads for Star Wars Celebration VII. E-3PO, Unmasked Darth Vader, a Shock Trooper, R2-Q5, and R2-R9 were revealed so far. Click here to see the post on their fancy blog.
Today, Funko's blog tortures informs you with information about four new amazingly cool Funko Hikari Vinyl Figures - only available at Celebration VII in Anaheim, CA. There's a super-cool Icy Stormtrooper, a stellar Star Clone Trooper, a bronze Matte Black Boba Fett, and a Verdigris Greedo. Each is limited to between 500 and 1,000 pieces, and you should totally pick me up a set if you go.
Ad: Amazon's exclusive Playskool Heroes Star Wars Jedi Force Imperial Forces Pack has had another price drop, now clocking in at 15.47.
The six figure set is packed with figures you won't find anywhere else, so either get it now don't. You'll get a TIE Pilot, Sandtrooper, Shadow Stormtrooper, Snowtrooper, Scout Trooper, and a regular Stormtrooper.
In quite possibly the worst time of year for a new exclusive to hit, Walmart's exclusive 8 Star Wars Hot Wheels cars are in stores now. If you're lucky. There's one for each movie and the most recent two TV series, and they're a few pennies below a dollar each. Look for an in-store blue display with other Hot Wheels products, as one side of it is packed with tracks and cars. In other words - the whole set should set you back eight bucks.
Each car is based on an existing release, but with nifty Star Wars deco. I saw fewer of the Clone Wars and Return of the Jedi cars, both of which are quite excellent. The Clone Wars car has an Anakin Jedi Starfighter motif, while Return of the Jedi looks like a TIE Fighter.
After some considerable waiting, Amazon's mysterious (and delayed) Playskool Heroes Star Wars Jedi Force Imperial Forces Pack is up for order and in stock for a mere $19.99 (free Prime shipping).
In it, you'll find a mix of new and previously available molds with 6 total figures. A Shadow Stormtrooper, white Stormtrooper, Bike Scout, Snowtrooper, TIE FIghter Pilot, and Sandtrooper can be yours if you place an order before they go away.
If you aren't afraid to admit you like them, Target's Star Wars Rebels Titan Series 12-Inch Action Figure Set is $10 off, down to $39.99. Also on sale is their matching Marvel set and a Transformers Age of Extinction collection.
