Fans can get a pretty nice sneak peek of the over 40+ hours of bonus material on the Blu-ray collection for Star Wars: The Complete Saga before it hits stores on September 16th. The Star Wars Blu-ray Early Access App will be available as a free download for the iPad only on July 20th and then all iDevices on August 2nd.
The official site has a story about The Clone Wars Complete Season 3 home video release, which means DVDs and Blu-Ray discs on October 18. Lots of deleted scenes. It's going to be an expensive Fall, kids!
While you may have heard the full story by now, we're going to post it here anyway to make sure. StarWars.com posted the full press release letting fans know what they're going to get on each of the nine discs in the collection, including numerous TV specials, deleted scenes, and new documentaries as well. Naturally, you'll want to click through for more.
According to pretty much every media outlet, the complete saga will now be hitting September 16, 2011 which is a full week earlier than previously stated. Also, the item is not exclusive to Amazon, as some of you have asked-- pre-orders are open all over the place.
As we reported earlier today, the Star Wars saga on Blu-Ray and its pre-order was officially announced at CES in Las Vegas. Here is the official press release and trailer from Lucasilm. 30 hours of special features and being able to choose between all, OT, or Prequels? Not bad.
After the first announcement in August, we now have a fuller idea of what's coming on Blu-Ray in September courtesy of a new official announcement. There will be three SKUs:
1. 9-disc, 6-movie collection (SRP $140, online as low as $90)
2. 3-disc, Original Trilogy set (SRP $70, online as low as $45)
3. 3-disc, Prequel Trilogy set (SRP $70, online as low as $45)
Attention Lucasphiles: George Lucas' first film, THX-1138, hit the Blu-Ray format next year. Star Wars will be coming to the format in 2011, but you can get this dystopian flick right now for about $20. This is the "special edition" which, like with Star Wars, has some new scenes, new effects, and a few edits. If you've never seen the movie before, it is absolutely worth watching. I suggest really late on a Saturday night before you go to bed, because it's a pretty disturbing film.
The deleted scene shown in today's tease for the upcoming Blu-Ray release of the saga has already made the jump to YouTube. Want to see Darth Vader talking to Luke through the Force, or Luke building his lightsaber? Well, we found it. Click here to see it.
