So how many of you went out and bought everything Episode 1 related before the movie was released?
I was one of those people that had to hit every store and pick up all the new figures. Anything Darth Maul I had to have.
What about you?

I went way overboard during the midnight madness release. I think the only non-4" item I bought was a Darth Maul. I bought tons of 4" stuff, though. At least two of each figure, plus tons of battle droids, etc. I don't think I have a single E1 item left.
I grabbed one of every figure that was released. Glad I didn't get doubles.

I kept one of everything carded. My son & I would set up huge displays with the open armies. The best ones were with all the various Stormtrooper variants.
I was in college so couldn't afford anything but the movie ticket. I am not sure anything will ever be as collectable as the vintage stuff. Too many people save everything in packages now...
You are so right. I sold off all this stuff, and it was worth about a fifth of what I paid, and that is taking into account those items that have some value.
I was excited to see new stuff when Episode I came out, but my collecting approach has always been slow and steady. A few figures here, a vehicle there. I'd always try to get my favorites first and would actively hunt for them, but I'd fill in the rest of the line as I made trips to stores for other reasons. Gotta buy toothpaste? Might as well make a swing through toy aisle while I'm here.
Used to be a time I grabbed everything I found. Now I leave figures on the pegs that I still do not have in my collection, but want, but don't buy. Wierd how priorities change as we get older.

When I look back at all the Episode 1 stuff I have, I just shake my head. Not because of the figures/vehicles/etc., but because of all the "other" toys. Way too much stuff. Of course, 90% off at ShopKo didn't help matters at all (and those Laser Tag sets were pretty fun to play with).
