    Toy Fair 2013

Well guys, what do you think? I followed the coverage on FB as it was posted, which I've never been able to do, which was pretty cool.

I dig the Black Series Sandtrooper, and I'm really glad to see it has 3 of the 4 blasters used in ANH! I figured they'd do different pauldon/gun combinations as a sales gimmick. I noticed the MG-34 didn't have the t-track on the barrel though. Hopefully they correct that...

And there's a small scale Black Series too...That's the replacement to the vintage series isn't it?

I always anticipate the role-play stuff the most, handcu....I mean...uh....You know, the toy prop things are pretty cool. I was sad to see they didn't have any new FX lightsabers on display, but it was good to see the "full" Vader helmet back. The Clone Trooper one that was released a few years ago is still one of my favorite Hasbro products.

And then vehicles....Big Boba Slave 1 is an Amazon exculsive. I wonder how much it'll be? I bet over $100. Lastly, they're finally offering a Gunship with turrets! I bet that's $100 too. If only they had released those two like 10 years ago...

LOVE the packaging for the three Vintage exclusive vehicles. That X-Wing is super sweet!

"Hasbro was also supposed to preview a slide featuring their new Disney Star Tours exclusives, but wasn't included in the presentation."

    EFF MY LIFE.

Even though I don't collect anymore, I follow what's going on with the various lines just in case something really irresistible would be released. The thing I'm wondering is whether they come out with anything other than resculpts anymore. Sure, some of the resculpts are awfully nice, but it makes me long for the days of complaining about yet another Tattooine Luke--sure, it was another Tattooine Luke, but at least there were 4-5 brand new sculpts along with it. Now it's Luke, Vader, Annakin and either Obi-Wan or Mace Windu in every wave, plus a clone and two other resculpts. I'm always itching to see something really off the wall at Toy Fair, but that hasn't happened in years.

I always wonder if kids purchase each variant of the characters that are released. Like do they have the first CW Anakin figure, plus the repacked ones that are just a bit different, or do they even notice the difference in sculpts? Like Cad Bane for example. I think there are 4 basic figures, plus the speeder bike pack. I think you could argue that the figure that had the the little droid pack-in is by-far the best sculpt, but do kids notice that? I remember as a kid when they released the POTF2 Bespin Han Solo, and I suddenly realised it had the coat on, as oppose to the Han I had which had the vest. It had been out for while until I noticed the difference as a lad. I did buy it, but by that time I was collecting the stuff. LOL.

Also, RS posted pics of the Star Tours stuff. If I'm in the park this year, I'd be tempted to buy them (definitely the "Seeker Droid" pack). The one set has C-3PO in it, and I wish they would have replaced him with another one of the Sky Troopers. I didn't buy the last set of figures, which had two of them in it, so I wouldn't mind having an opportunity to have more than one...

When my son was little he honestly didn't care about the different variations, other than the army builders because he knew I'd buy a bunch of them. He'd use one Luke, one Han, etc. In fact, he'd tell me what he was playing and I'd cover the living room floor with the various Stormtroopers, ships and monsters for each area his characters were going through and he'd stick with ultra-muscular Tatooine Luke, Bespin Han (or whichever) and Secret Wars Wolverine the entire way. Unless a new figure came with a droid or some other notable accessory, he generally didn't care about the different sculpts.

I still maintain you can't beat those original POTF2 muscular figures, I still love 'em!
