New 2013 Figure Mojo in 2012....
Took a trip to Des Moines today to get my car fixed and found the new 2013 Class I Vehicles: Yoda's Jedi Attack Fighter, MTT Droid Fighter, 501st Legion Dropship and the 501st AT-RT at the University TRU. They rang up at the $23.99 price point but an enployee had stocked them on a peg with a $20.99 tag. I'm guessing that was for the Maul packaged Class I sets but I asked an employee if they would honor the tag since there was no $23.99 price tag anywhere to be found. They matched the price and I picked the the set up. The southside TRU didn't have them when I was there.
New Vehicle Mojo in Ames....
Doctor visit in Ames today so I stopped by Target after my appointment. I found one full set of the Yoda packaged Class 2 ships (Obi Wan's Jedi Starfighter, Slave-1, and the Republic Tank) and I picked them up. They also have the 12 inch figures if that floats your boat.
I should have figured out that as soon as i posted about my Wally not getting any Vintage figures for a year they'd go and get one. The Wave 4 case.
1x Darth Maul (Phantom Menace)
1x VC58 Aayla Secura (Revenge of the Sith)
1x VC59 Nom Anor (Expanded Universe)
1x VC56 Kithaba (Return of the Jedi)
1x VC57 Dr. Evazan (Cantina, Star Wars)
1x VC51 Barriss Offee (Attack of the Clones)
1x VC50 Han Solo (Bespin Outfit, Empire Strikes Back)
1x VC53 Bom Vimdin (Cantina, Star Wars)
1x VC54 ARC Trooper Commander (Expanded Universe)
1x VC55 Logray (Return of the Jedi)
1x VC52 Rebel Fleet Trooper (Star Wars)
1x VC21 Gamorrean Guard (Return of the Jedi)
The Gamorrean and ARC trooper were gone but thanks to my impatience from last year I got my fill of them from on line retailers.
New Vehicle Mojo in Des Moines....
A little sinus surgery gave me a week off and an Old School Geek Day on a Wednesday. I picked up the Endor AT-AT at TRU in Urbandale. They also had put out a fresh case of Marvel Universe figures. Puck, Nighthawk, Nova, Angel, Blastarr, Hercules, Jubilee, Beta Ray Bill and others I hadn't seen. I love me some Marvel comics and I thought about buying a couple of them but the paint apps on them (Nighthawk and Nova) were sloppy and I just couldn't pull the trigger for a Puck at $10. I'd have been almost all in on that line but hasbro has seem to have a really hard time with quality control with the line. A pity.
Anyhow, I also picked up Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi - Into the Void and Star Wars Storyboards: The Prequel Trilogy at Barnes and Noble. The artwork in the Storyboards book is really nice.
Swapper Scum and Villainy In Marshalltown....
Yep. Some cheap rhymes with glass hole hit our Walmart. The first case of Black Series we get and this guy swaps a Black series Clone Pilot and Biker Scout with a Hardcase Figure and Bomb Squad Trooper Figure from the Clone Wars Battlepack. There were also at least two Black Series cards on the shelf that looked like the bubbles had come off and someone had helped themselves to the figures and left the cards and bubbles behind. I hope the person that did this sees this and knows that in my opinion you are a cheap weasel and you are what is wrong with this hobby. If you can't afford toys DON'T HOSE THE REST OF US THAT CAN!
Years ago, in the heights of the POFT2 days, we had a local collectible store that had arranged deals with the biggest Toys 'R Us in the area. They were given first pick at anything that came in. As bad as this was, on numerous occasions they would also damage figures that did make it to the shelves so that carded collectors were more likely to run up the road to them to buy the figures at 2, 5 or 10x the retail price. After a management change at TRU, their prearranged deals fell through so they missed out on the $10 AT-AT's, $10 12" Speeder Bikes, and $20 12" Dewbacks.
