Hasbro tried a new style of packaging out in a few lines, and we’ve been the most enamored with that of the Screen Scenes. You can see the figures from multiple angles, and the backdrops and pieces of scenery really bring the figures to life in a way a clear plastic tray and a blue burst could never do. While the prices were a little higher, there’s no doubt the packages were a little better, and this is why these were our favorite boxes of 2003.
Runner Up: Clone Wars Animated Figures
Our hard-to-pick runner up was the Clone Wars Animated Figure Assortment. These guys received the best makeover of the basic figure packaging since the line started in 1995. Not only is there a nice big logo, the packages are colorful and very eye-catching with a huge piece of character art on the front of the bubble. It would be marvelous to see Hasbro do something like this for their movie figures, but for now, it’s nice to see something this ornate on a figure this small. Kudos, Hasbro, on two jobs well done.
