While many greeted it with “it’s about time!” the rest of us were happy to finally see LEGO crank out a large original Trilogy vehicle again with the AT-AT. Sure, it’s a little expensive, but with over 1,000 pieces there really wasn’t too much to complain about. While the set has most likely come and gone from most stores, the fans that have it will treasure it for years to come.
Runner Up: Mini Vehicles
Another great new idea this year were the Mini Vehicle line, where twelve small sets were released to a fair amount of acclaim. The price was low, the special pieces were great, and there were even a couple of bonus vehicles that could be built out of the spare parts. While they don’t pack the zing of a larger set, these were a real departure and a rare innovation in the area of Star Wars construction toys.
