Toys “R” Us introduced a number of exclusive four-packs this year, the true highlight of which was the Imperial Forces gift set. Repainted and slightly altered figures resulted in new army builders and great figures that were a real snap for Hasbro to crank out in this set. Of course, there were few complaints as a new AT-ST driver and a new Imperial droid were highly requested items from quite a few fans.
Runner Up: Clone Trooper Lieutenant Minibust
The runner-up is more of a legend than something everybody could get behind. Gentle Giant’s now infamous Blue Clone Trooper Bust managed to take a good idea, paint it, and release it to what was presumed to be a small but appreciative audience. The collectible caught fire, though, and now causes a lot of fans a little grief because nobody really saw the demand. The end result? Star Wars collectible history.
