Large vehicles have been few and far between since Star Wars started anew in 1995. Coming in at a fairly low $39.99 was the Republic Gunship, a toy that both looks great and plays well. Other than a small cannon on the back that tends to pop off, the toy was nearly flawless. The pilots (sold separately) fit in the cockpit, there's room to store other toys, and enough gimmicks to keep a kid busy for an afternoon of adventure, plus a handle to make sure it won't slip out of little hands. Truly, this is a sign of how to get things done.
Runner Up: TIE Bomber
The wings may be old, but the rest is all new! Imperial fans finally had the chance to pick up the only TIE vehicle as of yet unmade in plastic, and it just turned out great. A nifty bombing mechanism was worked in to an excellent sculpt only aided by its sturdy construction. Not only was this a fine collector's item, but it was a great toy as well. Score two for Hasbro's design team!
