RABÉ Queen's Chambers
Image: Adam Pawlus' desk drawers. Bio: Rabé is one of Padmé Amidala's handmaidens, loyal aides who also serve as her bodyguards. One of her duties is to act as a decoy, impersonating Padmé in vulnerable situations. Very patient for one so young, Rabé is a soothing influence on the queen in difficult times and helps Padmé prepare her elaborate hairstyles. (Taken from the figure's cardback.) Commentary: It's a good thing articulation isn't everything, because if it were, Rabé would be a crappy figure. Based on a colorful costume fans were steadily demanding for years before its 2005 release, the handmaiden is generic enough that you could get a few of them and make your own Amidala entourage. With articulation at the shoulders, the waist, one elbow, and technically the head, she's essentially a glorified statue. Since all these characters did was stand around, this is acceptable, but keep in mind that this action figure is not overflowing with action. The detail and paint job here are pretty good, her costume looks quite bright and striking while the hood of her garment does a good job of covering up a less-than-stellar face. Paint is everything, and here, it wasn't so hot. Hopefully if we see a reissue, they'll fix this one little flaw because otherwise this is a pretty fantastic plastic figure. Collector's Notes: To date, Rabé has not been rereleased. --Adam Pawlus
