Bio: Jango Fett is the embodiment of pure physical adroitness and shrewd agility. Fully equipped to defend himself from any adversary, Fett's sleek armored suit is armed with retractable wrist blades and other concealed weaponry. His harnessed backpack, capable of jet propulsion and missile projection, provides stealthy leverage over steadfast opponents. (Taken from the figure's cardback.)

Commentary: Fans couldn't get enough of Jango Fett in 2002 and 2003, which is why Hasbro went absolutely crazy pumping out new sculpts with new and exciting features on a fairly regular basis during that time. In that year, more than half a dozen figures came out and this one is one of the goofier ones. His electronic jetpack and giant firing weapon are his selling points, but neither appeared in the movie. We did see a few shots of Jango out of his armor, so the snap-on gauntlets and chest armor make sense as that could be a fun play feature. Of course, it's necessary to have the figure itself be fun, which this one really isn't. You get articulation at the neck, shoulders, biceps, and that's about it-- no waist or leg articulation is present due to the giant hole in the back needed to hold the massive backpack, which itself is based on the version he used while on Geonosis. The enlarged pack plays different noises depending on how long you hold it in-- there's a blast sound, and a fire sound. Neither is particularly cool, but I can appreciate what Hasbro was going for here. I can't say the same about the two-handed rocket launcher, as it's easily set off and doesn't fit in with the rest of the movie too well. I guess it's no less ridiculous than a giant electronic packpack, but this figure as a whole isn't really all that much fun. It can stand there, make noise, and shoot-- I guess by definition these are fun toy features, but I didn't enjoy it.

Collector's Notes: A one-timer from 2002, this deluxe figure never came back-- but a removable armor Jango with better articulation and accessories hit in late 2007. This figure's snap-on gauntlets and chest armor showed Hasbro was making progress on decent looking, not-too-bulky accessories. When it comes to this release, though, it's pretty non-essential. Better Jango figures exist, and I'd go out on a limb and say they're all better than this one.
