Bio: A tall, lithesome creature, Lama Su is Prime Minister of the storm-shrouded planet Kamino. Commissioned by an enigmatic Jedi Master, Lama Su has undertaken the largest human cloning project ever attempted. He has grown an army of 200,000 troops -- trained and ready for combat -- with another million in progress. Because the Kaminoans are far removed from galactic affairs, Lama Su mistakenly believes he is fulfilling the order for the Galactic Republic, and is thus unaware of the grave consequences his enterprise will hold for not only the Republic but also for the entire galaxy. (Taken from the figure's cardback.)

Commentary: When you get two figures for the price of one, and that price is $4.99, you're likely to allow for some figures to be less awesome than others. Lama Su isn't all that bad, but with no accessories and limited articulation, you probably are really happy that he came with a young clone in training as a bonus figure. Due to his costume, his only meaningful articulation is at the waist and arms, meaning this whole set has seven points of articulation between both figures. This may sound crappy, but really, you're getting two figures for a ridiculous price, so fans didn't complain all that much. The Kamino cloner has a sculpt which basically matches the film, and unlike Taun We from 2002, he's really quite tall, more accurately sized to the rest of the line. As such, if you get only one figure from Kamino, this is a great choice. As the character served little purpose other than exposition in a talky sequence, there's not a lot of action to be had here and this is a figure which will likely appeal to kids with very specific tastes and a limited array of collectors. I much like it, but in the grand scheme of over a thousand figures, this really doesn't stand out all that much. It's certainly acceptable, and a great value, but there's no element of greatness to be found here.

Collector's Notes: A one-time wonder, this figure came and went in 2003 and didn't last very long. Collectors didn't gravitate toward it, and it was the last (so far) Kaminoan figure to see production. A few other characters exist which could arguably be nice toys, but I wouldn't hold your breath unless they're big shots on the TV show. And even then, I'm not hopeful.
