Bio: Qui-Gon Jinn was a revered yet maverick and unconventional Jedi Master, Padawan to Count Dooku, and mentor to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Jinn often placed himself in conflict with the Jedi Council. He was deeply attuned to the Living Force, which contributed to his frequent taking side trips to help seemingly "pathetic life-forms." Despite his opposition to the council, he was regarded by many Jedi as very wise and clever. Jinn served the Republic, the Jedi Order, and the Force his entire life, participating in actions against the Nebula Front and most famously during the Invasion of Naboo. It was Qui-Gon Jinn who discovered the Chosen One (Anakin Skywalker), on Tatooine during this crisis and was largely responsible for getting him trained as a Jedi. Commentary: Most of the Qui-Gon Jinn figures produced surrounding the launch of the first prequel weren't entirely wonderful, and this figure was no exception. As a deluxe figure, this figure's action feature involved you plugging in a lightsaber-shaped "handle" into his back and pushing a button. This would allow him to swing his arms, essentially fighting, which was supposed to be fun. It more or less worked, I guess, sort of.

The sculpt was on par with the rest of the line, and the paint wasn't too great. Considering the figure cost $3 more than a basic figure at the time, one would hope for more accessories, or additional articulation. One would be disappointed. This figure was widely available-- and widely clearanced out-- after the saturation became apparent in the marketplace. While the best figures will always find a home, this wasn't one of the best figures. It isn't terrible, but given there were dozens of figures on the market and no less than a half dozen Qui-Gon Jinn figures easily purchased, fans wisely realized there was little reason to pick this one up.

Collector's Notes: This sculpt has never been reused or reissued. And with good cause, it could have been better.
