Commentary: For every time fans fault Hasbro, you can't deny that they're trying to do good by us. In the first year of the Episode I line, we got not one but two unique troopers from Naboo. The first, this Naboo Royal Security, wasn't a favorite but it was a decent release. It had two unique weapons, it could sit, and it had the traditional six points of articulation. The face was a little lacking in signs that it was based on an actual person, but the uniform was a good-- if slightly too bright-- recreation of the outfit as it seemed to appear in the movie. The detail is appropriate, and is about as good as many of the later-era Power of the Force Kenner figures from 1998. Sure, it could've had more detail, or something cool like ethnic head variants, but it's still an overall decent figure. His double-grip rifle is still being used today and has shipped with the 2006 Naboo Trooper as well as the red repaint from 2007. If you're looking to build the Queen's army, you should make sure you snag at least a couple of this guy. And cross your fingers Hasbro puts out some more diverse versions of him in the future.

Collector's Notes: Since Episode I toys were made in fairly big numbers, this figure-- and many of his day-- have never been rereleased. The original release is fairly easy to come by, not just because it was made in huge numbers but because Hasbro really went all-out to make high-quality packaging out of stronger cardboard than previously used. The bulk of Episode I carded figures felt like they were expensive in the packaging, even though many of the figures really weren't superior to their cousins from the original trilogy previously released. If you have the chance to get a couple of these, you probably should, as it's a decent release. (MORE IMAGES)
