Commentary: As the very first Clone Trooper from the final prequel, a lot of us ran out and bought this figure in quantity-- which is good, and bad. The bad thing is that after the movie came out, we all pretty much saw that white troopers were nowhere to be seen in Revenge of the Sith so if anything, this is closer to a "custom fodder" trooper or the troopers as they appeared in the games, comics, and Clone Wars cartoons. This figure was awesome because the sculpt is good (although the belt is a little small), plus he has two weapons and loads of great articulation. His quick-draw attack doesn't really hurt his ability to be posed, save for one thing- the mechanism caused the removal of a waist joint, so a lot of fans didn't like this one. I think it's a good figure, just not marvelous. Unlike the super-articulated Clone Trooper mold (the one with the antenna), this figure can actually sit without distorting the plastic on the leg joints-- if you leave any of those other Clones seated for long, it widens their stance. (In recent years, Hasbro hasn't paid too much attention to how sitting will eventually cause some problems in some figures. Many are fine, many are not.) If you're looking to bolster your ranks with a figure that so far hasn't been prone to yellowing, this is a great one. Since it's somewhat cheap, it might be worth snagging numerous extras just because he comes with extra blasters which could be good for rounding out your Clone armory. (Oh, and this figure has its longer rifle partially painted in brown, which is a nice added detail.)

Collector's Notes: While the white version of the quick-draw trooper has yet to be reissued since 2005, it was repackaged as a Target exclusive figure-with-cup set shortly after the basic figure leaked to stores. In later 2005, the basic carded figure was given red Shock Trooper markings, but the packaging was not altered. In Fall 2005, Kmart received an exclusive repaint of this figure in 501st Legion colors as part of a very popular Battle Pack. ( MORE IMAGES )
