Commentary: Hasbro has been pretty bad about making sure the ranks of the various clones' coloring is known, so it was nice when this clearly labeled Clone Trooper Commander came out as a Wal-Mart exclusive in 2005. Not only was it one of the best values in the line, this assortment let fans do something they were dying to do-- and that's get some more troopers. Each figure is based on the red 2002 Clone Trooper, which means this yellow release has ball-jointed knees and some movement in his elbows and wrists-- which, at the time, was still pretty gosh darned awesome. The sculpt is good, and for its day it was a perfectly acceptable figure, especially given how cheap it was. It's a good figure to boost your armies, and it's more or less a fun release-- problem is, the neck joint didn't let the figure do much more than swivel, and it's always nice to have some more vehicles for figures like this. All you can really have this figure do is pose in an action pose, firing on some unseen foe. Still, I'm glad I got mine-- the price was right, and yellow Clones were hard to get in those days.

Collector's Notes: Finding these was a bit difficult-- I hit up several Wal-Marts one weekend and saw these twice total, ever. The problem was that they were too good of a deal-- for $5 per TWO PACK, you could afford to buy the set for just the Clones and throw the rest away. While I'm all about getting a good deal, fact is this deal was too good and as a result, some fans missed out. Surprisingly, there wasn't a lot of complaining, but with super-articulated clones that would come down the line, this is a figure you can stand to miss. With the super-articlated Clone Commander in stores now for $7, you're probably better off buying that one unless you have to get all the versions out there, or have a desire to get a figure with the larger clone rifle.
