Bio: Clones are supposed to be good at fighting, but they're not really supposed to enjoy it. So no one really knows why Sev seems to be happiest when the battle is thickest. If you're looking for him, try checking the middle of a huge pile of blasted battle droids. (Taken from the figure's box.)

Commentary: Back in 2006, fans got Scorch and demanded more commando figures. And they got them, too! Mere days after it was announced, there was much complaining that Sev here would be a repainted, retooled version of that figure. Because, collectively, we're all a bunch of whiners. The figure isn't perfect, but it's good-- much better than some of the Clones we saw in the early days of the line, and certainly what I would call good enough. The figure has normal shoulder and hip articulation, plus it has ball swively goodness on his torso, neck, and elbows. What's more, he has articulated wrists and a bang-up red paint job with what vaguely looks like blood. (I think this makes it cool automatically if you're about 13, older than that and it's a toss-up.) The sculpt of the figure is very good, and the figure's unique armor matches the game designs quite well-- not perfectly, but certainly good enough (and dang good given the price.) While the figure isn't ideally suited to kneeling or doing acrobatics, that's more or less fine-- these guys weren't exactly in the Cirque du Soleil when it came to their movement in this heavy armor.

The figure's "damage" isn't perfect. One flaw in the dirt/battle damage deco we see on figures is that the figure rarely looks genuinely worn, it just tends to look like a factory-fresh suit of armor got a little schmutz on it. This is sort of the case here. The red and grey deco looks pretty good, but the way it was applied makes it look like it was an aftermarket thing-- maybe this is a good thing, since Sev supposedly customized his gear on his own. Some of the dirt markings work, while others are merely OK-- the green smudges on his shoulders don't make sense to me, but the white and red markings on his chest look OK. He seems to like the splattered look, so if that was the intent, they did a pretty good job. He doesn't look too sinister, but he does look a little meaner than his cohorts due to the paint. It's a pretty good figure, and with the added scope and shin thing, it's a figure I'd suggest getting while the getting is good.

Collector's Notes: There has been one (and so far, only one) Sev figure and it was part of the Delta Squad set. The set came with 3 more clones and 3 Geonosians for them to fight for $34-$40, or $4.85-$5.71 per figure. Consider that just the four troopers at $7 a whack would be $28, the additional Geonosians make the entire package a decent deal-- if you don't have a problem with their right to exist as toys, that is.
