Commentary: While the red Clone Commander has been given at least one name and it seems at least two distinct characters appearing in the Expanded Universe, this green one is more or less homeless so far. Greenie here is pretty much unique to the action figure line, and was one of many Clone variants cranked out in 2005 to keep the line fresh and interesting while avoiding an increase in the total number of SKUs Hasbro had in production. As such, it's one of few times where an item is, in all seriousness, merely a variation yet is different enough that it becomes a new character. The figure is essentially super-articulated, has a posable visor over his eyes, and comes with way more accessories than he needed. The extra rappel gear, no doubt, ended up in many a collector's parts drawers. While neat, it's more than the figure can carry, especially given he has two pistols and a rifle. Totally devoid of battle damage, this nifty green figure may fit right in with your green clones, namely the ones from the 212th Battalion from Cato Neomoidia. While a very visually nifty figure in one of my favorite colors, it really doesn't have a home in the greater story of Star Wars yet. This makes him unique as there aren't very many figures in the toy line, aside from generic troopers, without some sort of back story specific to the character-- so pick one up, and feel free to write his destiny.

Collector's Notes: This figure was common for periods of time in 2005 in some markets while being downright hard to find elsewhere. You should have no problem obtaining one for a fair price. To date, Hasbro has made no known plans to crank out this figure for a second go-round. In addition to the first version of the figure (the red Clone Commander), the mold was also used in 2005 to produce Commander Bly and again in early 2007 to crank out the Order 66 Target Exclusive Commander Bow.
