Commentary: This figure's packaging boasted that it had 9 points of articulation. (No kidding, check out more images below.) This Anakin Skywalker was really something special back in 2003. Overall, I'd say it was the best Anakin at the time and would remain the best for at least a couple of years, as it had unique features like ball-jointed ankles and shoulders as well as swivel elbows. Before "super articulated" was considered standard for most fans, figures like this were far and few between, and quite exciting. The figure is based on a combination of a few things, namely the final shots of Attack of the Clones, and some quasi-Expanded Universe lore. The figure was a great one-- it looked great tackling a Reek, fighting Battle Droids, or doing pretty much anything. The head sculpt was an improvement, but I'd be lying if I said it was particularly great. (Why Episode II Anakin is so hard to do right is beyond me.) It's a fairly simple figure, but a good one-- as a toy, it's one of the best and it's something of a shame it isn't more widely available today. It's not necessarily better than your Evolutions figures, but it's very good for different reasons and I'd go on to say that it's well worth owning if you have the chance to get one on the cheap.

Collector's Notes: This figure was available on both 2003 "movie" styles of packaging. The first release had a Star Wars logo with a gold border around the card. The second had a dark blue background with a gold stripe on the left side featuring the movie's name. ( MORE IMAGES )
