Lost Star Wars Droid Factory Carded Samples on eBay

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, September 5, 2014

While we prefer not to link to eBay auctions, the one for Star Wars Carded Unproduced Wave 1 2013 Droid Factory set of 12 unreleased was too good to pass up.  It's one of two known sets to exist - I've seen a couple of these up-close and know of only one privately held set - so if you want it, now is the time to cough up some dough. These are not the same exact ones on Amazon, although those figures are present - as are some of the first The Black Series wave 1 figures in their original packaging.

Six Second Toy Talk: The Black Series Ree-Yees Action Figure

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, August 29, 2014

With three eyes, Ree-Yees has been one of the more recognizable aliens form the Star Wars saga since his 1983 action figure debut. Kenner refreshed him in 1998 and this 2014 edition is the first new one in over a decade. He's a big upgrade on almost every possible metric, minus a new ball joint in the waist popping apart easily which means he pretty much can't sit. However, he does have sculpted trigger fingers which was nothing short of amazing. Go ahead and get one. Also note cameos by Boba Fett and the previous Kenner Ree-Yees figures in Six Second Toy Talk, after the break.

Six Second Toy Talk: The Black Series Darth Vader Action Figure

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, August 28, 2014

Tired of video previews of action figures that take a whole minute - or worse, several minutes?  In the amount of time it would take you to think "yes" to yourself, you could already be watching this Six Second Toy Talk: The Black Series Darth Vader Action Figure video - and almost done with it.  Check it out, after the jump.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,097: Ree-Yees (The Black Series 2014)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, August 21, 2014

He's good!  Ree-Yees is Hasbro's finest work in the field of Gran development.  If you need a figure to stand on a Sail Barge or Jabba's Throne Room diorama, there is none better.  I assume most readers of this site are not concerned about figures sitting, because trying to make him sit will cause his torso to blow open.  (It's easily remedied, like the ball-joint head on most figure necks.) Due to how this figure is likely to perform in your life, this is probably going to have to be rounded up to acceptable as there are no real vehicles for him right now.  Is this figure the go-to Ree-Yees you've been waiting for? Yes.  But read on anyway for more pictures!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,096: Jabba's Skiff Guard (The Black Series 2014)

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, August 20, 2014

It's Jabba's Skiff Guard!  Or Brock Starsher, or Sgt. Doallyn, or whatever - the important thing is that this guy, with this helmet, is now a thing you can actually own.  He looks like his cousins from The Legacy Collection and sports 2 neat accessories.  Is he exceptional? No.  Does it matter? Also no - he's a legit new character, without question, and as such a required addition to your toy shelves.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,094: Darth Vader (The Black Series 2014)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, August 18, 2014

Almost the greated Darth Vader figure ever conceived is in today's Figure of the Day! The Episode III 2014 incarnation is so, so close - but the head falls off really easily.  The bend-and-swivel wrists, rocker ankles, and ball-jointed torso are perfection.  The ball-jointed hips? Wonderous. The sculpt is pretty good too - but if you turn the head, the helmet falls right off.  Still, diorama fans should snag it and carded fans too.  Read on!  (Also order yours at Entertainment Earth.)

Star Wars Command Millennium Falcon Set - Hoth and Beyond

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, August 14, 2014

The Star Wars Command line is, at its core, green army men for Star Wars. This means we get many things that are not green, of an army, or men. The 9-packs of figures at $5-$7 each are pure joy - cheap, good, high-quality figures that are basically 40 years past their prime... but for those who appreciate toys for the sake of toys, they're unfiltered joy.

Bigger sets like Star Wars Rebels Command Millennium Falcon bring more to the table - this one has 33 "pieces", so says the box. What you really get are 6 clear vehicle stands, 6 small vehicles, 2 "sleds" to motorize the vehicles, a pull-back fully-painted Millennium Falcon, and about two dozen monocolor "army men" figures, most of which are from The Empire Strikes Back.

Read on for more! Or don't. Spend your morning working instead, when you could just be looking busy and having a good time. See if I care.

Star Wars Command 9-Figure Sets - Yep, They're Good

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, August 11, 2014

Let's talk about Star Wars Command. Bad news folks - they're really nice, and you will want some of them. The concept of "green army men" has been a part of toy culture for years - variations on the theme have been in toy shops since 1938. In subsequent years we've seen variations on the theme, like the dinosaurs, aliens, and fantasy heroes put out by Tim Mee toys (reissues of which are on Amazon now) and other creatures sold by the bucket at Toys R Us.

Hasbro even tried a similar product for Star Wars a few years ago with Star Wars Unleashed Battle Packs from 2006 to about 2010 and Fighter Pods from 2012-2013. They were painted and averaged about $2.00-$2.50 per figure. Hasbro's latest offering (in stores and online now) is Star Wars Command, a line of figures measuring a hair over 2-inches tall and about 50 cents or less each. The unpainted figures are quite charming - but should you go get some?

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,093: General Grievous (Mission Series 2014)

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, August 8, 2014

So, ready for a new General Grievous?  I was! This one is tall, and that's great.  He stays standing unassisted longer than his predecessor, but the Mission Series figure will still topple over in a matter of hours.   As such, he'll need a doll stand - but he fits in the Grievous' Starfighter vehicle, and looks pretty fantastic.  Should you get one?  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,092: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Mission Series 2014)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, August 7, 2014

Another one! This Obi-Wan Kenobi (Mission Series Utapau) is a tiny bit different from the normal release - probably not enough for most people to notice, so like Darth Vader you may wish to skip it unless you want that pretty cool - and huge - General Grievous from the 2-pack.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,091: Luke Skywalker (Mission Series 2014)

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, August 6, 2014

If you like Bespin, you'll probably dig Luke Skywalker from the Mission Series.  Sure, it comes with a Darth Vader you probably own - but this Luke has 5 joints and a working holster!  It ain't bad - it could use yellower hair, but you can't get lemon-headed figures all the time I guess.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,090: Darth Vader (Mission Series 2014)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, August 5, 2014

This Darth Vader was packaged with Luke in a Bespin Mission Series 2-pack.  It's virtually identical to a 2013 release, save for some of the chest sculpting and other batch variances.  The Luke ain't bad, but he's tomorow - read on to find out more about Darth Vader!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,089: Darth Sidious (Mission Series 2014)

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, August 4, 2014

Oh... yeah!  Figure of the Day is back with Darth Sidious, a simultaneously fantastic and weird take on the Sith Lord from the most recent Star Wars movie which, at 9 years old, means we're all dying. Slowly.   It's a fun figure, particularly the split robe pants - these are just fantastic.  Read on!
