Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,026

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, March 20, 2013

I really like this Battle Droid, in part because the blue-bedecked "pilots" are far and few between.  We got one about 13 years ago with another swell mini-rig-ish vehicle, and then... uh... I think this might be it, actually.   It's based on the 2012 MTT droid mold, which isn't at all bad.  I'm not saying it's exceptional, but I am saying I like it enough to wish I had more.

Check out this AT-ST Gunner from the Kmart AT-ST Drivers pack last year! It's pretty good.  For the price, I'd say it's quite the deal... particularly if you have one of the earlier AT-ST vehicles which doesn't collapse under its own weight like the 2012 release.

Check out Clone Trooper Slick, a Target-exclusive from the not-quite-dead series.  It's basically a plain white Clone with a removable helmet.

This slight redeco of Clone Commander Wolffe is, if you ask me, better than the single-carded version.  As a bonus, his armor matches his troops'!   If you haven't picked him up yet, this is a good version to snag.

Check out the 2012 beflagged version of Mars Guo, a pretty good reissue of the 2006 pod racer.  It's not bad.  It's pretty small and at clearance prices, this is 20% of a pretty fantastic little set.   Should you get it?

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,021

Based on one of his first appearances anywhere, this General Grievous animated action figure features a slightly different color scheme.  The bone armor is more blue, the cape has no red lining.  As such, it's distinctive.  But is it worth a look?

Check out the new Orimaarko, a remake of a 1998 figure which was a remake of a 1984 figure. He uses a mix of new and (mostly) existing parts, plus he has some pretty nice gear which helps cuishon the blow of the ever-increasing price points.  Was this eyepatched online exclusive worth your while?

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,019

Hey kids, it's a Blue R8-Series Astromech Droid! This is another Star Tours Droid Factory figure.  It's nice.  Were it at Target, you'd merely buy it and enjoy it, rather than have it be the root of acute droid anxiety.  I like it.  Will you?

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,018

Gotta have my Pops!  Davish Krail has a less recognizable name on the box, but it's a pilot and that's most of what you needed to know anyway.  Interestingly, the figure differs from the build on the back of the box.  Want to know the difference?

Hasbro improved a mold in a big way with Chewbacca last year.  First released in 2011, the figure needed a tiny bit of work, which it got for the 2012 reissue.  Better paint? Check.  Improved articulation?  Close enough.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,016

This Jango Fett is the one you're most likely to find at an American toy store right now - and it's pretty unlikely you'll see his Geonosis Arena Battle set outside clearance aisles.  He's based on a 2002 mold, and is also the newest version of the character, meaning this is the one that kids could end up with if they get the new-for-2013 Jango Fett Slave I vehicle.  And he doesn't really fit.  But I digress, the figure is interesting enough and the set (as a whole) is nice.

The vintage Emperor's Royal Guard has a great piece count with too much gear for any sensible person... unless you can find a way to army-build it, in which case it's pretty awesome.  There's still a tiny bit of room for improvement here, but it's pretty amazing overall.  Check this one out!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,014

Sooooo Anakin Skywalker here is today's Figure of the Day! I just saw a case of these 2-packs at Target over the weekend, which is surprising as they were full price.  Based on a 2000 mold with a new-for-2012 helmet, this uniquely decorated action figure is good at standing around and is less good at piloting vehicles.  Should you buy the 2-pack? How about for Vader?

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,013

Check out this blue Clone Trooper from 2005.  With sharp colors and lines plus animated styling, it's arguably more interesting than many of the other movie figures to be had these days... and nobody's looking to buy it, so you can probably get one cheap.
