It's coming! Season 5 of The Clone Wars will be out on DVD and Blu-Ray. Not only will it be sold in a set by itself, but a better, much cheaper Blu-Ray of all 5 seasons is coming to penalize those of us that bought the sets along the way.
Tis the season for randomly marked-down products! Walmart has marked down their Ultimate Gift Sets for Star Wars as well as Transformers and Beyblade, but prices vary by store-- the $30 sets were as little as $15 in my neighborhood, which is a steal given you get 5 figures in the set.
The Star Wars Blu-Ray hit stores (and mailboxes) today, and as expected the complete Star Wars Holiday Special animated segment is included. If you ever wanted to see what was basically a backdoor pilot for Droids, it's here!
If all that weren't enough, the very charming LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace TV special is coming to home video at Wal-Mart this week. It's $13.00 and includes young Han Solo-- the same figure was handed out as a promo item at Comic-Con, if you were very lucky or in the right place. Just click here to pre-order, or wait to hit up Wal-Mart this weekend when you get your 2 gallon pickle jar, rubber gloves, AAA batteries, and/or sack of peanut M&Ms.
The Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray hits this Friday, and it seems that the price wars have not started yet. Amazon, Wal-Mart.com, and Target presently have the best price in the USA with $79.99 for all 6 films. And remember, the trilogy sets do not include the bonus feature discs.
Loose lips sink starships, and the eyes of the Empire are everywhere! Speaking of eyes, since yours already laid eyes on these movies we're not considering anything a spoiler here, but MillenniumFalcon.com and numerous other sites lit up today with MP3s, video clips, and details of new changes to the original trilogy. Some sound good. Some comments seem hyperbolic. And it seems that, unsurprisingly, there are still a few things left to fix.
StarWars.com posted a feature on the Blu-Ray cleanup process, highlighting botched effects being repaired, Lightsaber fixes, and a whole mess of other interesting tidbits-- of course, not all of them. Do read on and be sure to check this one out.
The Home Theater Forum posted a 2-part feature (with a third promised) discussing the discs, their many sound mixes, and it's a really good read. And would you believe they talk to Matt Wood as well as throw in a nugget about the Holiday Special?
Super-duper awesome movie site TheDigitalBits.com has posted impressions of the Blu-Ray collection we're all waiting for. They confirmed seeing some of the deleted scenes, highlighted some of the techinical details, and even confirmed the movies are new edits with new stuff in them.
This teaser trailer for the Complete Star Wars Saga on Blu-ray was shown to fans at this evening's Star Wars Fan Movie Awards in Comic-Con. Enjoy!
Fans can get a pretty nice sneak peek of the over 40+ hours of bonus material on the Blu-ray collection for Star Wars: The Complete Saga before it hits stores on September 16th. The Star Wars Blu-ray Early Access App will be available as a free download for the iPad only on July 20th and then all iDevices on August 2nd.
The official site has a story about The Clone Wars Complete Season 3 home video release, which means DVDs and Blu-Ray discs on October 18. Lots of deleted scenes. It's going to be an expensive Fall, kids!
While you may have heard the full story by now, we're going to post it here anyway to make sure. StarWars.com posted the full press release letting fans know what they're going to get on each of the nine discs in the collection, including numerous TV specials, deleted scenes, and new documentaries as well. Naturally, you'll want to click through for more.
