Action Figures

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,176: R4-Series Astromech Droid White with Red and Silver

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, August 14, 2015

It's not R4-E1, or really all that close.   The R4-Series Astromech Droid White with Red and Silver reminds me of that droid, but all the patterns are different - check out the unique feet, torso, and the dome markings similar to the blue R4Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,175: R2-Series Astromech Droid Black and Silver (not R2-Q5)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, August 13, 2015

The R2-Series Astromech Droid Black and Silver looks a lot like R2-Q5, but it's actually a buildable Disney droid at a theme park (not) near you!  The colors are as vibrant as the black plastic is not glossy.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,174: Commander Thorn (The Black Seres)

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, August 12, 2015

It's new.  It's different.  But it's not exactly a premium figure.  Hasbro's 2015 Commander Thorn brings you a mishmash of parts that could be used to make Cody or Rex (or Doom!) and gives them a rich red paint job that, as long as you don't compare it to the animation model, is the best thing ever.  Once you start to hold them up side by side, it looks a little less great.   Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,173: Jon "Dutch" Vander (The Black Seres)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, August 11, 2015

New for 2015 - today's Figure of the Day!   Jon "Dutch" Vander was done over 10 years ago, but now he's back with a slightly different helmet deco and a couple of more joints on a different body.   Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,172: R7-Series Astromech Droid White and Blue

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, August 7, 2015

A new deco design, the R7-Series Astromech Droid White and Blue  is actually really striking.  Some of the elements on his person do tend to evoke certain other elements in nature and consumer products, or perhaps he's just happy to see you.  (Droids are a chipper lot.)  Want to see more?   Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,171: R2-Series Astromech Droid Silver and Purple (not R4-M6)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, August 6, 2015

Let's look at the Disney park exclusive R2-Series Astromech Droid Silver and Purple (not R4-M6).    It really is close to R4-M6, though, just made of build-a-droid parts with slightly less paint.   Should you get this new-for-2015 figure?  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,170: Clone Commander Wolffe (The Black Seres)

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Let's look at the new, cartoon-inspired, desert gear version of Clone Commander Wolffe.  The good news - it's well-designed, with a great cloth "skirt" that is the best we've ever seen.  The bad news - he is indeed a little short for a Clone Trooper.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,169: Jawas (The Black Seres)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, August 4, 2015

Since the line reboot, Jawas as a two-pack have been an important part of the line.  Start an army in every pack, or collect them all and pack out the Sandcrawler you probably skipped in 2004.  Ah well - so how are these new, non-light-piped versions?  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,168: Han Solo (The Black Seres)

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, July 31, 2015

This new Han Solo from what may be one of the last waves (that we know of) for the 3 3/4-inch The Black Series is here!  He's cool - as in frozen - and loaded with articulation. Despite this he can't quite perfectly use his handcuffs, but the carbonite block is new and it's quite nice.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,167: Stormtrooper (The Black Seres)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, July 30, 2015

We looked at a Black Series Stormtrooper, but not this Black Series Stormtrooper!  There was another one of those trademark running changes, you see.  This one?  New helmet.   It's still basically the same construction as the Sandtrooper you got with a Dewback a few years ago, and if you didn't, shame on you.    It's pretty good - it comes on the newer TIE Pilot blue cardback if you want one.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,166: Captain Rex (The Black Seres)

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, July 29, 2015

Check out Captain Rex!   This Black Series 3 3/4-inch "realistic" figure can be found now at a store near you, if you are lucky.

His helmet is a little small, but he has some pretty amazing paint applications.  Another "Phase 1" Captain Rex figure was shown a few years ago, but remains unreleased - so how is this one?  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,165: Chewbacca (The Black Seres)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, July 28, 2015

"Is that a new figure?" is probably one of the most common questions I'm asked here.  This Chewbacca just came out a few months ago and the answer is... sort of.  There's a new head with a great roaring expression and hair based on the original film, which makes this sort of a super-articulated version of the 1978 original.   I quite like it - and you might too.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,164: Mosep Bineed (The Black Seres)

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, July 24, 2015

We're back! For now.  Let's look at Mosep Bineed, the first all-new Cantina alien in several years and one of precious few non-Clone new characters to hit the line in a while.  And lucky for you, he's still pretty cheap online so get while the getting is good.  Read on!

SDCC 2015: Bandai Tamashii Nations Movie Realization Star Wars Figures

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, July 13, 2015

Hidden away in the Bandai booth, Bandai Tamashii Nations Movie Realization brings the whole quasi-samuai look to Star Wars.  You've seen Darth Vader, you've probably seen the Stormtrooper, but did you see the Emperor's Royal Guard or the Sandtrooper?  It's a good thing for you that I was thinking about you, reader, because I snapped a few shots while I was making my journey from meeting to meeting to bathroom to snacks to meeting to more snacks.

SDCC 2015: Hasbro Booth Adds Season 2 Rex and Inquisitor

By Mike — Sunday, July 12, 2015

Hasbro adds Season 2 Rex and the second Inquisitor to their booth. These figures are slated for release in Spring 2016 along with Mission Series Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader. Rex features a nice removable helmet that perfectly on his bald and bearded noggin. Here's hoping a Season 2 Wolf is not far behind, although this figure will be probably require swappable heads.
