Designated as a "Greatest Hit", Hasbro feels that VC Obi-Wan Kenobi is a figure worth repeating. It speaks to the strength of a 5 year old sculpt that the only update needed is a soft goods over a sculpted cloak. The vintage inspired card certainly adds to the peg and collection shelf appeal. Obi-Wan's out now and keep a lookout for the foil "Ultimate Galactic Hunt" card (we also feel that term is worth repeating!)
Let's cut to the chase and address the action figure netgulators. Yes, the VC19 Clone Commander Cody's antenna is corrected to silver and they also corrected the belt. We have the photos in our Image Bank to back it up. Other than that, the ROTS vintage cardback is really nice so you should go and pick one up!
So, a couple (few) weeks ago we began monitoring [hint — encouraging] comments (for quality control, naturally) for a bit as we packed our bags and went through our checklists leading up to Celebration V in Orlando, FL. Comments, as we noted at the time, could lead to goodies like Hasbro's Star Wars posters from Comic-Con 2010 (and maybe even surplus posters going back a few years); a set (or more once we take stock) of those oh-so frame-worthy backer cards (from Hasbro, naturally); and whatever goodies we stumble upon along the way. As always, the most stylish replies win*. (Void where prohibited, watch your language, prizes available while supplies last, and this offer is only valid in the continental United States. *Most stylish replies are determined by, well, me... so address to impress or something. Comic-Con freebies contest ends [ended] on August 10 because Celebration V travel and check-in is busy time.)
Hasbro recycles the Gelagrub Clone into a generic ROTS clean white "Vintage" version everyone can army build. VC15 Clone Trooper is now ready for perusal in our Image Bank!
If you missed out on the Wal-Mart exclusive Dewback, here's your chance to army build with the new VC14 Sandtrooper. We have to admit that seeing the cardback featuring a POTF2 Sandtrooper on an orange card waxes nostalgic. Can you believe it's been 15 years?
Where the master falls short, the apprentice shines. VC13 Anakin Skywalker is clearly the best iteration of the chosen one yet. Superb sculpt, super articulation, and soft goods that work. Heck, they even nailed the hair.
While the devil wears Prada, VC12 Darth Sidious certainly has a penchant for faux fur. The head sculpt is amazing and kudos on the removal cowl, but the execution of the felt soft goods jacket falls a little short. Sort of like a particularly cranky bag lady look. What makes sense with a Gamorrean Guard doesn't necessarily work with the evil despot of a galaxy far, far away. Just sayin, Big H.
If you can't get enough concept art toys, try this Snowtrooper on for size! He has a cloth piece, a wacky silver gun, and a lot of detail that seems right out of 1979. Is he worth your time? Yes. So read on!
The Gunslinger strikes again! Mickey reports finding the new Revenge of the Sith wave at Toys R Us in San Diego, CA, including foil chase cards of Han Solo, Darth Vader, Commander Cody, and Magna Guard. Happy Weekend Hunting all!
If you're not out on a toy run, why not read about this unique Snowtrooper! From a 2007 Target exclusive, this uniquely stained Imperial grunt stands apart from your army of similar figures-- and it came in a really swell boxed set, easily one of Hasbro's finest. If you haven't added him to your ranks by now, should you? Read on!
Depending on the person's location, fans may tell you that this Leia (Hoth Outfit) is currently the most popular of the 11 just-released figures from The Empire Strikes Back. She's certainly deserving of such sales, even if it may not be true, but is she worth your going out and buying? Read on!
Hey kids, it's the Clone Trooper Fives! He has a five on his head-- hence the name. Other than that, is he special? Or is he just another variant to make you mad? I liked it, but you should read on anyway.
VC01 Dengar would never win a beauty contest, but his latest incarnation in plastic is primo. A striking head sculpt with wicked detail in the paint app, the bounty hunter is in a worthy place first in line for the new Vintage Collection figures.
Galactic reader Erik Y. found the new Ultimate Battlepack "Rise of Boba Fett" Slave 1 at his ToysRUs store in Pittsburgh and sends in these cool photos of its pilot touring the newfangled cockpit. This is an awesome new vehicle with lots of extras that are hitting TRUs now. Can't wait for the ESB version! Happy Hunting!
What's big, grey, and has a giant gun for a hand? That's right, the Heavy Assault Super Battle Droid. This retooled version of the 2008 berserker now has a useful built-in weapon and a slightly changed deco-- is it worth it? Read on!
