Action Figures

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,788

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, April 20, 2012

So this is the new Darth Vader for 2012, which is actually a figure from 2002 with fewer accessories at twice the price.  Oh, and they took out the magnets.  He looks good, though, so is he worth the nine bucks? Read on!

Image Bank: VC58 Aayla Secura

By Mike — Friday, April 20, 2012

Despite her brief appearances in the films,  Aayla Secura has a good following among the fan base.  As far as her action figure, I didn't really give much thought to an upgrade even with the less than spectacular efforts in 2003 and 2005.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,787

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, April 19, 2012

Another day, another Mace Windu.  This one has a distinctive hoodless robe, and that's the main selling point here.  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,786

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Check out this Grievous Bodyguard figure from the ill-fated (and at the time, expensive) arena sets.  You'd get 2 underarticulated figures and a couple of bases for $20, when figures were about $5.50.  The free market has spoken! But check out more on this figure, just read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,785

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, April 17, 2012

From rare and unreleased figure to indifference in weeks!  Clone Trooper Scythe was announced last year, and never really showed up!  Now he's here, and our polling shows you don't care.  You're fickle people, he's a cool figure.  Read on!

Image Bank: VC59 Nom Anor

By Mike — Tuesday, April 17, 2012

If you kitbashed Star Trek and Lord of The Rings, you'd probably come close to a Nom Anor. He's muscularly stunning and quite foreboding. As the new Masters of the Universe...whoops, did I just write that?... in the New Jedi Order timeline, the Yuuzhan Vong are quite the compelling and complicated conquering race, and they obviously like to workout.

Nom Anor was a Fan's Choice candidate a few times, and Hasbro finally decided to release him favorite or not.

Image Bank: VC56 Kithaba (Skiff Guard)

By Mike — Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Kithaba was originally mistaken as Barada in the Kenner line, but Hasbro has updated the red trousered Klatooinian Skiff Guard for The Vintage Collection and I'm happy to see him. He's not perfect, and there are a couple of flaws in the design, but overall the figure is a winner.

Image Bank: VC57 Dr. Evazan (Cantina Patron)

By Mike — Monday, April 16, 2012

He's a wanted man and has the death sentence in 12 systems, but Dr. Evazan is wanted by collectors for our own selfish reasons. We needed an upgrade badly since previous attempts by Hasbro made him more to be like Two Face's skinnier brother. Has it been worth the wait? I'll sum it up in two words: chest hair.

Image Bank: VC70 Ponda Baba (Walrus Man)

By Mike — Monday, April 16, 2012

I consider Ponda Baba one of the essentials of any Star Wars action figure collection. He's part of a key iconic scene and that Kenner action figure was such a memorable part of our Creature Cantina playset. Hasbro delivers an "ultimate" Walrus Man with awesome detail, super-articulation, and features that set him evolutions apart from any previous version.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,784

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, April 16, 2012

This is it! Finally!  An all-new Dr. Evazan is finally here to delight you, threaten you, or annoy you with his absence.  I just got mine last week, so now you get to read about him!  He turned out well, so read on!

Hi-Res Bespin And Naboo Battle Packs

By Mike — Monday, April 16, 2012

Presenting some hi-res detailed photos of the new and upcoming Movie Heroes Bespin Battle and Duel On Naboo Battle Packs. More figure, less action? You won't get too much poseability with 5-8 points of articulation, but they are undoubtedly new sculpts. The Obi-Wan headsculpt even looks amazing in these photos. But will collectors rejoice or gripe? Stay tuned, but in the meantime, enjoy!

Image Bank: VC69 Bastila Shan

By Mike — Sunday, April 15, 2012

Expanded Universe continues to be popular amongst collectors, particularly when it comes to gaming. The 2009 Fan's Choice winner shares the same game (Knights of the Old Republic) and scarcity, and for now, high premium as the 2006 winner, Darth Revan. While traditionalists would rather stick with film based characters, there is a cross market out there that are buying the game based figures up. Besides, Bastila Shan is great looking.

Image Bank: VC68 Rebel Soldier (Echo Base Battle Gear)

By Mike — Sunday, April 15, 2012

Hasbro had a few iterations in the modern line of the Hoth Rebel Trooper, but collectors wanted an updated version of the Kenner figure with the tan vest.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,783

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, April 13, 2012

It's the third release of swimming Kit Fisto in "realistic" style! This one was the best, because it came with a wire-filled cloak, a better paint job, and a cool astromech droid sidekick.  I hope you got yours!  Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 1,782

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, April 12, 2012

This General Grievous was from the wonderful but short-lived line of Walmart Droid Factory sets.  The cape is the unique feature of this one, but is it enough?  Read on!
