I. Prologue
Indiana Jones figures are coming and will be shown off in a few months as part of Hasbro's PulseCon package!  While not a new Star Wars movie, it's something new from Lucasfilm that will be in movie theaters next year - if all continues to go according to plan.  The Willow streaming series is still coming, and Andor just got delayed a month - but it's also still coming this year.

The big fall reset just hit the toy aisles, and it's pretty boring for Star Wars.  There are Kenobi The Retro Collection figures, but everything else from Hasbro is pretty much more of the same - there are new fresh lightsabers and a new helmet here and there, but we're really starting to feel the lack of 6- or 3 3/4-inch vehicles.  There are still Mission Fleet ships and figures, though, so it's not a totally empty hunting season.

IV. New Stories
Not a whole heck of a lot new was shown off as far as new stories go, but Andor is still set to begin its 12 episode run on September 21, a delay of 3 weeks, with a 3-episode premiere.    Willow is set for November 30, and The Mandalorian season 3 is currently set for February 2023.   Star Wars Visions Season 2 is also coming in 2023, with no date beyond "Spring."

If there's a second season for The Book of Boba Fett, it's not being discussed in any official channels.  A sequel season for Obi-Wan Kenobi has also been talked up in the press.

Rogue One is getting a theatrical IMAX run on August 26 with what sounds like an exclusive trailer for Andor.   Or, you could stay home and watch it on streaming.

V. SDCC Things
Hot Toys showed off a 1:6 scale N-1 Starfighter from The Mandalorian.  That will probably either never come out, or be one of the more expensive figural collectibles we'll ever see.

Gentle Giant/Diamond Select Toys revealed a jumbo Kenner-style 12-inch Grand Admiral Thrawn.  Along with McQuarrie Concept Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, these are unique characters not done by Hasbro as 3 3/4-inch Kenner figures.  Diamond's big Mandalorian and Grand Moff Tarkin - BBTS and Entertainment Earth exclusives respectively - are both distinctive, different sculpts from what Hasbro put out, too.

Paleetoys revealed their custom Echo Base Defense Playset on Instagram - but it's not an SDCC thing.  Rather, it's a prototype for a future vac-form environment for your old Kenner figures. https://www.instagram.com/p/CgZ9K5LMPB8/

VI. Fin

And that's it!  I hope you caught Light & Magic if you're a Disney+ subscriber. The show gets in to some of the nitty gritty about the early days of special effects in the original Star Wars trilogy, but more or less glosses over everything that happened afterward - but they do linger a bit on the practical/digital changeover.  Seeing the early effects is incredibly inspiring, and the behind-the-scenes stuff alongside grainy, non-Special Edition footage is a real treat.
